Rick Lewis Lewis
Bay Area Community Land Trust
Rick Lewis is the Executive Director of the Bay Area Community Land Trust. He is a founding member of BACLT, and served as a board and Treasurer until January 2011, when he was hired as ED. Mr. Lewis previously served both as a board member and interim Organizational Director for the San Francisco Community Land Trust and was staff at Northern California Land Trust for three years. He has 26 years of experience in non-profit housing, having worked for the City of Berkeley, several non-profit developers, and a financial consultant. He has helped several communities to develop community land trusts, assisted residents in purchasing their buildings as limited equity co-ops, and provided training and community organizing for tenant groups. Mr. Lewis has served on several city commissions, including Berkeley’s Housing Advisory Commission and Housing Trust Fund Board and San Francisco’s Community Land Trust Task Force. He lives in a limited-equity housing cooperative he helped found 30 years ago. He has a Masters in City Planning from UC Berkeley.
