Speaker Bio
Naomi Cytron joined the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco’s Community Development department in 2005. As Regional Manager for Northern California, she works with community-based organizations, intermediaries, government agencies, and financial institutions to advance cross-sector solutions for challenges facing low-income communities, including disproportionate health risks, gentrification and displacement, and structural barriers to economic opportunity. In Naomi’s previous role as Senior Research Associate, her research and writing focused on concentrated poverty, regional equity, and data infrastructure. These research interests led to a collaboration with the Urban Institute on What Counts: Harnessing Data for America’s Communities (http://www.whatcountsforamerica.org/), a volume of essays exploring the opportunities and challenges of using data to assess and strengthen community development strategies.
Previously, Naomi worked as a consultant on affordable housing finance and managed a fair housing testing program. She has a master’s degree in city and regional planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a bachelor’s degree in biology from Macalester College.
