Rhonda Palmer has lived in Montgomery County, MD since September 1988. Since moving to Montgomery County, MD (MOCO), Rhonda has actively maintained a continuous learning mind-set, and kept abreast of the MOCO County Affordable Housing Moderately Priced Dwelling Unit (MPDU) program, and local housing resources to share with others.

April 2015 Rhonda received a diagnosis of colorectal cancer. As she endured weeks, and months of chemotherapy, and radiation treatments, she was remained steadfast in her long-held quest to obtain safe, clean, and affordable housing. During the time of her grueling treatments, her apartment living conditions also deteriorated causing extreme mental, emotional, and physical distress to her, and her family.

Continuing in her quest to obtain safe clean, and affordable housing, In July 2017 her family was selected as a Moderately Priced Dwelling Unit (MPDU) applicant. Rhonda and family moved into a community under construction into a brand new 3 level MPDU Townhome on September 19, 2016. The affordable new home, and environment has provided great relief, family self-sufficiency, and future prospects of executing her commitments, and goals.

In January 2016 Rhonda was nominated by the Montgomery County Government Senior Planner – Lisa Schwartz - of the Department of Housing and Community Affairs (DHCA) to represent Montgomery County in becoming a Resident Ambassador for the Grounded Solutions Network Program.
