Helen Gerhardt serves as member of the Pittsburgh Commission on Human Relations which upholds Civil rights and anti-discrimination code in the City, and represents the Commission on the City-County Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing Task Force. She works as Grassroots Organizer for the anti-hunger organization Just Harvest and serves on the Steering Committee member of the Pittsburgh Food Policy Council Food and as Co-Chair of the PFPC Food and Health Equity Working Group. She formerly worked as Community Organizer for Pittsburghers for Public Transit and continues to work with PPT on advocating for quality, affordable housing near public transit to increase equitable access to healthy food, living wage jobs, health care, and other critical needs.
