Sarita Turner, has over twenty years of experience working in the non-profit sector bringing attention and resources to causes that address the impacts of institutionalized racism and the disinvestment of people and neighborhoods. Sarita has worked in various organizational types and positions including: direct services, policy advocacy, community organizing and development, and philanthropy. Living in Oakland, CA, Sarita currently serves as the Director of Inclusive Communities at Institute for Sustainable Communities, overseeing ISC’s Partnership for Resilient Communities and strengthening the equity and inclusion components of ISC’s U.S.-based clean energy, resilience, and sustainability programming. Prior to coming to ISC, she spent over seven years in various roles at PolicyLink, where she worked throughout the U.S. to advance data-driven, inclusive community and economic development practices, and also to advance equity focused policies to improve access to economic opportunity. While at PolicyLink, she managed the organization’s work in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s $200 million Sustainable Communities Initiative. Sarita has also previously served as the executive director of the Minneapolis-based West Broadway Business and Area Coalition. She is currently a member of the Grounded Solutions Network, Board of Director’s, where she serves as the Nominations Committee Chair.
